For Utilities Cynact · Grid services

A behind-the-meter endpoint utilities can actually address.

Cynact is a local-first building automation platform with the protocols, latency and M&V instrumentation utilities ask about — built so customer comfort and program operator objectives don't fight each other.

/ Capabilities

Seven capability lines, honestly labelled.

Roadmap items marked clearly. Pilots welcome on the things that exist today — most utility partners care more about a deployable endpoint than a feature checklist.

01
Available today

Behind-the-meter DER endpoint

Each Cynact deployment is a fully-addressable behind-the-meter endpoint. Loads, generation, storage and controllable devices live in one device graph the utility can address — without ripping out the customer's existing controls.

02
Available today

Demand response & load shifting

kW shed against a baseline, scheduled load shifting, and event-driven curtailment of non-critical loads (HVAC setbacks, EV charging deferral, water-heating shift). Customer comfort guardrails are first-class — not an override checkbox.

03
Available today

M&V — Measurement & Verification

Sub-minute interval metering at the device, circuit and site level. Baseline computation, event window logging, and CSV/API export of M&V records in formats utility evaluators recognize. Every event is auditable.

04
Roadmap · 2026

OpenADR 2.0b

OpenADR 2.0b VEN implementation on the roadmap for 2026 — initial scope covers report-back, opt-out, and event acknowledgement against a utility-hosted VTN. Stand up against a sandbox VTN for pilot evaluations.

05
Roadmap · 2026

IEEE 2030.5 (CSIP)

IEEE 2030.5 client profile on the roadmap for 2026 — function sets for DER monitoring and demand response control, aligned with CSIP / CSIP-AUS conformance work as utility partners require.

Storm-resilient by default

Cynact runs local-first. When the cloud is unreachable — outage, storm, cell-tower failure — the site keeps running. Automations execute on the edge. State syncs when connectivity returns. This is a property of the architecture, not a failover mode.

Trade ally & pilot partnerships

Cynact deployments are installed by Wiztec LLC (CA Lic. 1149874) — a licensed low-voltage contractor that can be onboarded as a trade ally to utility programs. Pilot terms, cost-share, and M&V scope negotiable per program.

/ Reference architecture

Site ↔ Cloud ↔ Utility.

How a Cynact deployment looks end-to-end, from devices at the customer site to a utility VTN.

/ Direction of data

Raw device data stays at the site. Only aggregated state and M&V records leave the building. DR signals flow inbound from the utility VTN, with customer overrides honored locally.

/ Resilience

If any link in the chain fails — cell tower, ISP, cloud region, even Routbox itself — the site keeps automating. Local-first means local-always.

Pilot Programs 2026 deployments in progress

Looking for a first commercial pilot partner.

Routbox's first commercial Cynact deployments are landing in 2026. We're actively talking with utility innovation teams about pilots covering:

  • Behind-the-meter DER aggregation across small commercial sites
  • Demand response in the "Missing Middle" (5K-50K sq ft buildings)
  • Storm-hardened controls for resilience-priority customers
  • Trade-ally programs through Wiztec LLC's CA license

Case studies will live here as they emerge. We'd rather build the relationships first.
